Esordisce nel 1992 sul settimanale per bambini “Tiramolla”,
edito da ComicArt
di Roma. La collaborazione continua per due anni,
nel corso dei quali scrive e disegna una dozzina
di storie. Subito dopo conosce G.B.Carpi
ed il mondo Disney

He lives and works in Ravenna.
He starts his career in 1992 in the weekly magazine
for children “Tiramolla”,
edited by Comicart,
Rome. The contribution goes on for two years, during
which he writes and draws about a dozen stories.
Immediately after this experience he meets G.B.
Carpi and the world of Disney
“…a fundamental time for my professional
development…”.
Con i tipi della
Luca’s realizza Cronache
di mondi Fantasy, un fumetto ispirato ai
G.D.R.. Nel 1994-95 realizza due dei tre numeri
che compongono la mini serie “Steampunk”
per la Hobby&Works.
Nel 1996 fonda la casa editrice autoprodotta SeagullComics
e dà vita a “The
witch” e ai “Sunglasses”
. “Si tratta di un personaggio di mia creazione
ed è stata un’esperienza determinante
per la mia vita professionale”. Spiega lo
stesso Sedioli.
Together with
the team of Luca’s
he carries out “Cronache
di mondi fantasy” (News of fantasy
worlds) a comic-strip inspired to the R.P.G.
In 1994/95 he realises two out of three of the numbers
that make up the mini-series “Steampunk”,
Hobbyworks
publishers. In 1996 he establishes the publishing
house SeagullComics
and gives birth to “The
witch” and to “Sunglasses”.
Sedioli himself explains that, since this has been
his personal creation, he considers it a determinant
experience in his life.
Finalmente nel
1997 il salto di qualità: entra a far parte
dello staff della Sergio
Bonelli editore e presta la sua matita per
le testate Jonathan
Steele, ZonaX,
Legs Weaver
ed infine Zagor.
“Il personaggio dei fumetti che ho più
amato è stato senza dubbio Zagor
ed è quindi con grande orgoglio che oggi
sono impegnato a disegnare le sue storie.”
Nel corso della sua esperienza professionale si
trova a misurarsi con i generi più diversi
di fumetto.
Passa dallo stile
Disneyano di Tiramolla
allo stile “americano” di “The
witch”, fino ad approdare allo stile
italiano moderno con Jonathan
Steele ed infine con Zagor
ad uno stile più classico.
Grande divoratore di saggistica, in particolare
di sociopolitica (cita autori come Giddens,
Dahrendorf,
Beck
e Baumann),
usa come colonna sonora mentre lavora brani di Radiohead,
Muse,
Afterhours,Dinosaur jr.,
Tom Waits.
Per quanto riguarda il cinema, trova i fratelli
Cohen
“grandi, assolutamente geniali”: il
suo film preferito è Il
grande Leboswski.
Finally, in
1997, he gets the big opportunity: he enters the
staff of Sergio
Bonelli Publishing and starts drawing for
Jonathan Steele,
ZonaX,
Legs Weaver
and, last but not least, Zagor.
“Of all those characters Zagor
is without doubt, the one I love the most, and,
it’s for this reason that I’m still
drowing his stories.”
In the course of his professional experience he
goes through different comics genres: from Tiramolla’s
Disney style to the “american” style
of “The
witch”; from the modern, Italian style
of Jonathan
Steele till Zagor’s more classical
style.
Gianni Sedioli is also a devourer of essayistic,
in particular of socio-political tests (he often
quotes authors like Giddens,
Dahrendorf,
Beck
and Baumann)
and while working, he listens to Radiohead,
Muse,
Afterhours,
Dinosaur jr.
and Tom Waits
music. As far as cinema is concerned, he loves the
Cohen
brothers. His favourite film is The
big Lebowski.
